From vendor quote to trusted evidence

How SPI collects and publishes market prices

A vendor price is an offer until its product, place, date, unit, evidence, and review status are clear. SPI preserves that context before the number reaches analysis.

Read methodology
  1. Step 1

    Vendor identifies the offer

A verified vendor selects the exact catalog item, unit, retail or wholesale basis, and currency.

  2. Step 2

    Market context is attached

District, market, effective date, pack size, and availability travel with the submitted amount.

  3. Step 3

    Evidence is collected

Receipts, shelf photos, notes, and field-monitor observations support the original vendor quote.

  4. Step 4

    SPI verifies and corroborates

Reviewers check identity, unit, outliers, recency, and independent observations before approval.

  5. Step 5

    Price and analysis publish

Approved observations become transparent price ranges, confidence signals, coverage, and analysis.

Interpretation guardrail

This snapshot supports coverage and dispersion analysis. A time-series trend requires repeated observations for the same product, unit, market, and price basis; SPI will label insufficient history instead of substituting a weaker method.
